Hehe! First and the foremost, I need to apologize to the lady owner of Sa Rang Chae Korean Restaurant at Gottlieb Road, Penang. Sorry for the super late post! I was busying over my studies and now can only grasp some time to update my blog. This was happened in the early September right after my first day attended the new semester. Almost 3 months ago. Haha! To begin the story, on that day, we were having our long-awaited Tang Family Outing. After going crazy at 客家山寨, we were starving until could swallow a piglet! To prevent jamming in the middle of the road and also losing directions in the mall during public holiday, we decided to pay a visit to this Korean Restaurant. Me and my 2nd sis Karen used to dine at here quite frequently in the past as my tuition centre was just one block away. I crave for its Naeng Myun!
Let's start with the pictures!
잘 먹겠습니다. Bon Appetit!
Sa Rang Chae Jeongsik (RM 139)
This family set suits for 3 to 4 persons (depends on how flexible your stomach is) consisting a Spicy Seafood Stew, Grilled Fish, Pork Meat and Kimchi Pancake. There are dubu/tofu, octopus, fish, shrimps, scallops and various veges inside this stew. At the end 5 of us who shared this could not be able to finish it. Way too much!
Merry Christmas everyone! I'm officially free from uni stuffs! Just for temporarily as next year January, there will be one dissertation knocking my door. Yet, to be extra positive during this festive season, it is going to be my very last semester. After that, I only can announce that I'm finally an adult as stepping into this 'indescribable' society (bet you know what I meant for those bread winners). Alright, today I'm gonna share a self-challenging not-following-the-recipe Rustic Milky Cinnamon Cake recipe. This is my own recipe and it's pretty easy to do. Well, I'm not saying that I'm a very learned baker. Don't over-expected ya my folks! My family claimed it was delicious doesn't mean everyone thinks it that way. Haha! Worth for a try though.
Let's see some pictures!
As I didn't go grocery store, so I ended up using all ingredients which I could find in my crisper. And, I didn't have any baking paper so it was quite hard for me to take out my masterpiece. I greased the baking pan in advance though. Maybe not enough as I'm very particular with the oil and calories one.
It meant to be rustic so this is it! Looks like a piece of soil. The chocolate colour thingy is cinnamon powder to warm ourselves up during this rainy season.
To present it with senses of Xmas or New year, you could embellish it with some leftover pretzels.
The sexy back of my cake.
This is how it looks like in a whole. I put 3 little cute Santa on top to add on the feelings of Xmas. It was made from Strawberries and cream.
I wish everyone a merry Xmas ya! Below is the recipe, enjoy!
Low Calories Rustic Milky Cinnamon Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 eggs
- 200g brown sugar (the original recipe needs 400g but I cut them down and they tasted good! Lower calories, dear! Do you want to have SNSD's legs? haha)
- 1 tspn vanilla extract
- 280g all-purpose flour
- 2 and 1/4 baking powder
- 300ml milk
- 150 butter
- Pre-heat the oven at 180'C.
- Beat eggs on high speed for 5mins or until it thick and lemon-coloured. Gradually add sugar and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla. Then, combine the flour and baking powder to gradually add into the batter, beat at low speed until smooth. You may find it hard to beat but it's okay as you haven't add in the milk and butter.
- Heat up the milk and butter until melted. Gradually add into the batter until combined at low speed.
- Add in whatever ingredients you find in your crisper. As for me, I add in slices of 2 bananas, raisins, walnuts and topped the cinnamon powder before bake.
- Bake at 180'C for 30-35 mins then cool it down. It depends on the oven you use, as my 'nana' oven is pretty slow. So needs more time. You need to check it out every 6-10 mins.
Just like this, the steps are easy right?! Now, I'll tell you the texture. The texture is pretty much taste like a brownie. Moisture and sticky as I used brown sugar for health-wise decision. You may stick to the granulated sugar. It's sweet enough for your tongue trust me. I always use less sugar to bake cake. No need to mash the bananas, just need to cut it into slices of 1-2cm and it melts while in the oven.
I hope you enjoy this and once again merry Xmas and Happy New Year! A bit late though! Wakaka! Bye!
I can't really believe that we are already in the December state. I can definitely smell the Christmas through the TV shows little X'mas icon on top corner, shopping malls and radio even from the Zumba class! Though it sounds weird to dance zumba with Mariah Carey's 'All I want for Christmas is you'! Haha! There's still a 'blank space' about how to celebrate this Chirstmas 2014. Erm, maybe go for buffet again like last year (no, I hate the aftermath...haha), sitting on couch doing nothing or maybe have a simple X'mas lunch with my love?! OMG! But, I need to actually focus more on finishing my tasks from Uni, one more assignment plus one more 'unnecessary' TITAS exam. I can't wait to be soaring after 22nd DEC 2014! Although still have one last sem to conquer next year! Alright, I'll recommend some X'mas songs for you guys:
- Mariah Carey- 'All I want for Christmas is you' (this is freaking awesome, I love it not bcoz of that zumba class kay!)
- Ariana Grande- 'Snow in California'
- Ariana Grande- 'Santa baby' (an old song but I just like Ari's voice)
- Ariana Grande- 'Love is Everything' (I don't know why I feel happy when listening to this)
- Kelly Clarkson- 'I'll be coming home for Christmas' (a ballad song)
- Kelly Clarkson- 'Underneath the Tree' (you can dance to this song after the X'mas buffet!)
- Kelly Clarkson- 'Wrapped in Red'
- SM Town- 'Snow Dream' (a korean song)
- Taylor Swift- 'Christmases when you were mine' (I really adore Taytay as she can even compose such amazing X'mas song!
- Typical X'mas music by unknown singers
Hope that these songs could cheer you guys up especially for those who live far from their family!
Photo taken on last year Christmas. Was having a high-notch Christmas Buffet Lunch with loves!!! Ey, did I promise to blog about it last year, but it's already too long-overdue! Haha! Let's throw it into the sky!
xoxo,
Wonder Queen.
Dear moonbirds (How I call my readers, in case you are the first-time reader),
Hello everyone, how's going on? I'm fine! Today, I'm just gonna update about where am I located recently just to answer some of my readers' questions sent through the email. I'm still at the same spot. However, at the busiest period. Really sorry for ever rejecting the invitation or whatever events during this period. My assignments due dates are looming towards me which made me suffocated last week. Yet, I'm totally energized and revived right now. I won't blog anymore until the moment I can finally flicker. All of my Aussie friends are coming back one by one. I can't wait to enjoy my time with them. BUT, right now, all I'm gonna do is continuing procrastinating my blog progression. Maybe, I'll close it up someday as I'm honestly a really low-profile person. Really appreciating whoever reads my blog and sends email to me with much love. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Alright! Another question asked by my readers is 'Which songs are your bias recently?"! OMG! This is really hard to answer. I'm not very particular when it comes to music. I think music is a very special 'thing', maybe I should use another holier term to name it. I always muse about the music. Why all musics are different? Do you ever think of that? It sounds like magic! The Coldplay's 'magic' totally can describe how I feel about music. Haha! Here's my playlist of NOV:
- Paramore- Ain't it fun
- Taylor Swift- Blank Space (ps: especially the MV, I LOVE cra cra Tay!)
- Echosmith- Cool Kids (Me and my bro can dance to this song endlessly, we LOVE twerking)
- Song ji eun- 25 (Although I'm not 25 yet)
- TVXQ- Shine (kinda old song but it re-energises me)
- Sistar- I swear
- MJ feat. Justin Timberlake- Love never felt so good
- Jessie J feat. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj- Bang Bang!
- Ariana Grande- Break Free
- Britney Spears- Overprotected
Okay, let's stop here! Stay Tuned for more updates only after the day (15 DEC 2014)! Finger crossed tightly!
Photo taken last year while back in KOREA! Sorry for lying you guys about the KOREA updates! I'll try my best to update next time. Maybe a decade later haha
I know, it's been a long time since my last update. I'm not that kind of author who can always update day by day, like 24/7! Haha! Foxy FOLKS??? Nuh! We are not foxy at all but maybe relate to the other meanings... Sexy like a fox? MMM Maybe haha but just for Catherini! This happened on last Wednesday. Me and my foxy FOLK of food tried out some good food at the Folks Cafe which located at Lebuh Acheh, Penang. If you ask me how could you get there, my answer would be, go ask GPS! Haha! I can only tell you, it located in the heritage area. But if you know Flashback, then, it's easier as it located just beside of it, under the same manpower and master-brain.
We arrived there quite early, so we managed to pay a visit to a temple nearby. We waited outside for like 10mins and it still closed. But it was already 12.15pm. So, this happened, sorry owner, I know we are not supposed to step into your cafe without your appearance but the weather was just too scorching hot...
Don't ask me how I took this pic... haha this is a secret between me and Cathe!
小姐,在等一个人的咖啡吗?Recently, this is the hottest caption. I haven't watched yet as I'm a horror movie-goer!
Yep, I was scrounging back my SOUL at the newly opened Soul Cafe which located at the Kek Chuan Road, Penang after a prolonged hiatus of updating here. I am now busying over my uni stuffs and so I do not have much time in blogging. Although the assignments hasn't knocked my door yet (some had), I just find myself being lazy to even touch my laptop (you know when you got Astro at home). By means of 'scrounging back my SOUL', I had officially stepped out of a lot of looming plagues (most probably the dissertation). Haha! Okay, enough for self-updating!
The day before Monday, my stomach was holding an orchestra concert after the clock chimed in 12 at night. I was so agitated and my er jie (second sis named Karen) promised to bring me out on Monday for brunch. We set our mind to burger at Spade's Burger but unfortunately, it closed on Mon stated on the food blog. Then, fate brought this cafe to us, Soul Cafe!
Happy Faces after fueling up our stomach about 60%.
The menu here is quite simple and doesn't have much choices.
Do you want to look like a KOREAN?
Yes, being look like a KOREAN is kinda like a in-thing ever since the year of 2007 or so.
Attending a best friend's wedding as a
bridesmaid? Basically, it's not your big day. However, there's still
plentiful of ways to style yourself for a wedding and still leave enough
limelight for your best friend or the bride-to-be.
It's even greater if you look like a KOREAN when you are not a KOREAN, right?! This romantically waves throw her a more matured and sexy look which at the meantime not too fancy and formal. The light and soft makeup makes her look ladylike and resemble to a KOREAN (which evidently the brows)!
Spaghetti Feasting by Christine was waged at Ben's Gurney Paragon Mall in Penang a few days ago. That was a festive occasion, 'the mooncake festival'. This feasting wasn't being planned in advance. I was supposed to see the dentist in the morning with Karen and have a simple brunch with her. However, when I was garbing up myself together with Christine, I successfully prodded her to join us. The hindsight from her companion after several revolving session in mind narrating that my persuading skill is quite good. I promptly contacted Crystal to join us as well.
After waiting for hours to see the dentist, we steered to the initial planned cafe, Secawan n Such. Unfortunately, it was closed (some bloggers should really amend the info in their blog). I was fretting and groaning under my starvation. Went to Crystal's place and 3 of us starved together. But, the affordable bread loaf from 7-11 saved us. haha! The brunch spot changed for numerous of times, from Italiannies, dubu dubu, miam miam til Ben's. Maybe this is what we named it fate! Everything happens for a reason, right?
A group photo of us! To prevent question like don't you have 4 sisters, the reason why were just 4 of us was actually my 4th sis was in sick. Hence, she needed a prolonged rest.
Before Christine showed up, we were gaping on this menu and having no idea on what to order. Then, they just ordered 2 plates of Spaghetti to share.
Caffebene 咖啡陪你 is finally here in Penang Gurney Paragon Mall! This is such a big deal for almost all of us who had been drooling over the Bingsu photos via instagram. I giggled when I realised that it's called 咖啡陪你 in Taiwan. If you know Mandarin, you'll get the idea how these 4 words come from. It sounds like Caffebene. Let's begin!
Sneak peak: The four of us after the long-awaited self-indulgence.
After having our brunch on that day, we went to Paragon for meeting our
high school mate HooiGui who I hadn't seen for such a long long time.
Probably for almost 2 years. Legs pained walking around in Sephora waiting Catherine seeking for her haul. Then, we decided to try the Caffebene! I'd been to the Caffe Bene branch in Korea, I tried the waffles only as at that period the weather was chilling, so it was inappropriate for us to try the bingsu thingy (yet, all the Korean eat Bingsu in frozen-kind of days).
Hello, finally a new blog post. Recently been so so busying over night class plus other things which makes me lazier than ever. I don't even touch my laptop for more than one time per week. Fortunately, my night classes for MPU subjects had just ended pretty well. Everything wafted smoothly. However, during this summery period, I'd come down with a series of bad illness. A couple weeks ago, I had suffered from confronting with the blister or ulcer grew in my mouth that made me couldn't even swallow my own saliva. Oh man way too painful! And now, I'm in a bad flu plus sore throat plus dry cough. I couldn't even sleep last night, woke up at 3am something due to smothering. Thanks to my 2nd sis who took good care of me by bringing me some medicines with water. Okay let's see the pics that we took in June (long-overdue, yeah I know)!
Selfie with Catherine while waiting WanTheng coming out from the loo.
Evidently, they were my models of the day.
Here's another customer from
Tang Karen Makeup Artist
the other day back in the beginning of July. This is gonna be the long-overdue update of makeup and hairdo since I was quite busy these days. Let's see how Tang Karen
applied her fantastic abracadabra in transforming her customer!
Here's the before-after pic taken outright from her page.
Joyeux Cafe is located at the Nagore Road nearby the New World Park. In actuality, I hadn't even heard this road before until I researched about this cafe. If you know where the Continental Bakery is, then it'll be pretty easy for you. Same row with Continental Bakery and at the opposite of the Brix and Baume cake house. Simple right? I hope you guys could be able to seek for it.
Bonjour (you'll know why I greeted you in French later on)! Hello everyone! How y'all doing? I'm pretty busy in these days yet doing great! I'm not gonna blog about my personal updates in this post but I'd like to record this memorable day in 2014. Last Sunday, my dad was celebrating his lunar birthday at home (not gonna blog it as it was too casual that everyone wearing simple clothes without makeup! Haha!) and a good news just flew in.
7 July, the following day was the PUBLIC HOLIDAY (Penang Heritage Day)!
Terima kasih banyak-banyak kepada Penang! Just because we are Penangites, we do not need to work on this particular day! Hence, I thought this was gonna be the perfect day for us
Tang Family to bridge up our relationship. Unfortunately, my 4th sis works at a not-so-kind MNC factory which causes her Monday blue as usual!
Am I chuckling or something?! Evil me, ya, I know!
Our Monday wasn't so blue although each of us wearing teeny weeny blue elements on our body...
Basil, Le Bistrot is a new launched cafe restaurant in town. It locates at the opposite of the 8 row colourful houses. I saw people uploading photos onto Instagram and so I decided to try it. Prior to the research and all sort of stuff, I thought it was kinda pricey since its name was hardly to understand like I only know Basil. Haha! However, the reasonable price they set is really surprising me. Somehow, I think that their food is worth more than the price set by them. All kind of aspects are alluring me to pay a visit very soon!
"Incorporation of modern elements to the charm of old prewar houses. We
insist on fresh ingredients and minimalistic on the plate." ~ by Basil, Le Bistrot
Well, since Wendy Goh is finally hit the Penang from her #ulu rural uni and Catherine is free so I decided to meet them! Both of them are my teachers back in Form 5 as they always stayed back after school just to teach me patiently to help me conquer with the evil kind of SPM. I'm really grateful to them! Love you guys! Another memory of us is when we danced together for a performance! Do you guys wanna see? Okay! I rather get killed by them than wasting those artistic pics!
Muahaha! So funny! From the left to right: my eldest sis, Wendy, me and Cathe! Yes, during my secondary school time, my ambition was to become a singer-dancer! Unthinkable! We spent so much time together for practice. The reaction from audiences which mostly the kids was positive! We danced the Kara's 'Pretty Girls'. We should dance together again next time!
Let's back to the topic!
Beverages which comprise of Americano (RM 8) and a kettle Chamomile tea (RM 7). Here's a little suggestion for them, to provide an extra teaspoon for customers to dig the sugar for better hygiene.
A little sneak peek of their menu. This is the front page which bespeaks of the Brunch list. The back of it is for the lunch and dinner repertoire which will only be served after the clock strikes on 12pm! As we were all in the starvation mode, hence, we couldn't spare to wait for another second and promptly ordered the brunch series.
My brunch mates of glorious Monday! Wendy and Cathe!
Sugar Honey---I suppose almost all Penangites know what it is. It's been opened for awhile ago. And all of the photos below are all taken back in early of this year, in January. First and the foremost, I need to say sorry to Wan Theng aka Wendy (nickname given by me) as I only upload it by June. Mianhe Chingu! Haha! Well, let's not palaver over here! Story starts....
'Life is a journey, a magnificence story filled with sweet times.
Explore with your own eyes, experience the world.' ~ Sugar Honey
I still remembered I steered my car to fetch Wendy and we started our cafe hunting. At that time, Sugar Honey is still new in Penang, so I'd decided to give it a try. Both of us are best known as 'road nerd'. It took us quite some time to reach there. After a long road journey with overusing our brains and eyesight, we found it! It's right beside the Mustache Cafe. Unfortunately, I didn't even know how to go to Mustache Cafe since I haven't visited there before. Never mind. Second problem arrived. It only operates after 12pm and we reached there too early! Haha! Luckily, the kind-hearted waitress or maybe the female boss let us stay inside and wait. We were the first customer! Now, let's see the pics!
While waiting... ... Yupe, she's Wendy Goh aka Sweet Spy! Why we call her Sweet Spy? I shall recall back in the year of 2006, at the end of the year we all still in pinafores sitting in a circle playing the 'Spy Game'. Some of us were suck at blinking our eyes and she was the one who masters this skill and kills in high speed without anyone's notice. Nice job Sweet Spy!
On the wall, you can see a lot of retro style pics hanging at there.
No Service Charge so you need to self service lah~! Nevertheless, the waitress still served us like a normal cafe grabbing folks and spoons for us and so forth. Nice service!
Starfish everywhere! It wafted me to the feeling of watching 'Little Mermaid'! Haha!
I present you every girl's favourite thing in cafes----cakes shelves! But I didn't try them. Maybe next time!
